nurses memorial - a fitting location to meet

nurses memorial - a fitting location to meet

On Thursday April 10, 2025 I visited the Massachusetts State House by the invitation of Representative John Rogers and Senator Michael Rush.

Our meeting was held in the Nurses Hall - which is a symbolic setting as it features a statue honoring a Civil War nurse, making it the first public monument in the U.S. dedicated to a woman’s service during the war. They felt that it was an appropriate location as the meaning of the monument we were standing in front of also represented “saving lives”; which is what Ricky, Inc., Rogers and Rush want to do.

In the FY25 budget, Representative Rogers and Senator Rush secured $50,000 in funding to help Ricky, Inc. deliver life-saving materials and recovery support to individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use, and mental health challenges across Greater Boston.

Representative John Rogers and Senator Michael Rush announced that they are also proud to support a similar request in the upcoming FY26 House budget.

Thanks to this funding over the past few years, Ricky, Inc. has been able to provide the following support:

-Provide 70 recovery residential sponsorships totaling over $59,000

-54 Uber rides to detox facilities, sober homes, and medical appointments

-Distribute 1,044 doses of Narcan through our DPH-certified program

-Deliver 2,988 Backpacks full of life essential materials to those in crisis

meeting to review important 2023 activities

On Sept. 28, 2023 I met with Representative Rogers and Senator Rush at the Massachusetts State House to discuss the recent activities and programs of Ricky, Inc. During this meeting I also expressed our deep appreciation for both men’s tireless efforts to help us secure the funding to allow us to combat the opioid, substance use disorder and homelessness crises in this state.

Pictured above is Senator Michael Rush, Rich Giacoppo and Representative John Rogers in the State House parking lot standing in front of the Ricky, Inc. van. This van was purchased with a portion of the earmarked funds from the FY23 budget and has enabled us to deliver more materials and services around the state than we were able to before.

“Thank you to Representative Rogers and Senator Rush for your dedication, compassion and support of Ricky, Inc. and allowing us to really make a difference one person-at-a-time”.

presentation of earmark funding

On Nov. 1, 2022 Representative John Rogers and Senator Michael Rush visited my home and presented Ricky, Inc. with an honorary check from the State of Massachusetts for $50,000.00. These FY23 funds were earmarked to assist us in the delivery of substance use recovery care materials to homeless individuals with substance abuse and mental health disorders in the Greater Boston Region.

We presented them with a framed Ricky, Inc. Certificate of Appreciation as a token of our gratitude for making this funding possible for us.

Picture above is: Representative Rogers, Rich and Senator Rush.

“We would like to thank you, and both of your staffs, for the hard work it took to make this possible. We could never properly express the immense gratitude and appreciation that we have for you both".

a fitting memorial to nicholas

a scenic location for rememberance

The Giacoppo family purchased this memorial bench in Nicholas' name last year. It took a lot of planning but with the assistance and cooperation of Portland's Director of Cemeteries and Historic Projects, Wesley Brumbaugh, we were able to locate and install this bench exactly in the place that Nicholas loved to have coffee and hang out. This was his favorite spot in all of Portland.

It is located along the walkway on the Western Prom, leading from Maine Medical Center to an extremely relaxing, pleasant and scenic view of the ocean.

nothing but love here

Our Nicholas loved visiting the Western Promenade in Portland for years. Sometimes to meditate, to get a coffee with us from Yodprom or gluten-free donuts from The Holy Donut.

Writing this makes me cry we spent so many days with Nicholas here we would do anything to go back. Nick loved the walk to the promenade he would point out the beautiful flowers the architecture on the gorgeous homes. We would talk about anything and everything. Most days we had Lady and then Roxy to sit and roll in the grass. Nicholas spent many a day and sunsets with his wife. This past Thursday we had this bench put in at the Western Promenade with a beautiful plaque.

Nicholas Giacoppo

Adored and Loved

Nothing But Love Here

“Nothing But Love Here” is a verse from his wedding song. Nicholas taught us to slow down and appreciate what you see while walking. That may be animals, birds, music and him loving his neighborhood, as Nick said,

“This is the neighborhood that keeps on giving “.

So please, when in Portland, Maine visit the Western Promenade and sit on Nick’s bench. Feel the sun on your face, enjoy a good cup of coffee. Open up all of your senses and please remember him and send our precious boy, Nicholas your love and your presence.

Thank you, Nicholas’ beloved family

incredible view

This is the beautiful view from Nicholas' bench.

It overlooks Casco Bay, an open bay of the Gulf of Maine. Casco Bay encompasses 14 coastal communities and stretches about 229 square miles, with its shore stretching 578 miles.

Nicholas loved nature and the serenity of a bright sunny day right in this area. He also loved to walk here in the winter, where his large hot coffee would surely come in handy on a cold winter day in Maine.

much more than just a bench

This bench will be here "at least" for the next 15 years, at which time we will renew for another 15 years.

There is ample free parking just yards from this bench and in the summertime, the public water fountain is available and is less than 10 feet away.

"if" you visit his bench, please take some photos and email them to us at Info@rickyinc.org or text at 781-727-6628.

Most of all remember what a wonderful man Nicholas was and take a moment to let him see his favorite spot through your eyes.

He would love the thought of that

clothing & hygiene products are a must have

We want to thank Norwood Health Dept. for their generous donation to Ricky, Inc. in preparing for the Summer 2025 Backpack Distribution Program.

We especially want to thank Stacey Lane and her staff for their kindness and hard work in getting these important items provided to us.

Throughout the process, they were kind and encouraging, and that means so much to us to have people that are dedicated to helping us in our mission.

Every day living without our two sons is unimaginable. It is unbearable. But, when we have the support of the community, we can’t tell you how much it means to us and is appreciated by the Ricky, Inc. community, and the recipients of these backpacks.

“Again, thank you to Norwood Health Dept., Stacey Lane and all that work in her department”.

Sincerely Rich, Chris and Bernadette Giacoppo.

Some of these pictures makes the garage look like a big mess, but that big mess will turn into beautiful backpacks, packed with respect and they will be neatly packed with important items for the recipients during the summer months.

Nicholas made me a drawing depicting a profile of a man's face and his expression seemed to be in distress. However, in his head it showed a calmness. It was his way of saying that no matter what the dilemma is, ride out the storm and there is always a path to make it better.

The title of his drawing was,

"There is always calmness in the mist of chaos"

Record Shattering Volunteer Effort

Record Shattering Volunteer Effort

Three years ago, dedicated volunteer members of Team Ricky assembled 130 backpacks in one day for distribution for our programs. This was the most backpacks that we ever filled in one day; until Sunday that is.

We want to thank our hardworking volunteers who packed over 310 backpacks this past Sunday July 13, 2025.

Thank you Chris Giacoppo, Doug Jasset and Bill Beatty. These guys could have been on the beach on this beautiful Sunday but they were here helping Ricky, Inc. help those struggling with substance use disorder, living unhoused, and mental health issues.

"Our hearts are broken for what we have lost, it’s unimaginable. Please keep us in your prayers".

Record Shattering Volunteer Effort

The team spent the better part of four hours in an assembly line packing these backpacks at a pace that was difficult to match. I attempted to keep the products on the line well stocked but the men were determined to completely shatter our previous record and I was hustling just trying to keep up with them.

They will forever have Ricky, Inc's. heartfelt appreciation for withstanding a hot and humid garage and their nonstop efforts to "just keep going".

The team also assembled 185 men's backpacks.

storing 310 backpacks isn't easy

These backpacks contain numerous hygiene products, 2-pairs of Bombas socks, undergarments, sunglasses, sunscreen and much more for the Summer months.

Each bag also contains lifesaving Narcan, fentanyl testing strips and an instructional pamphlet on what to do for someone that has overdosed.

nowhere else to go

Storing 310 backpacks in your home is not an easy thing to do. The Giacoppo household is very crowed right now and a walkway was needed to get around.

All of these backpacks will go to halfway houses, homeless shelters, Veterans programs, our Street Outreach Program, mothers and children programs and DPH funded harm reduction programs that serve many clients whom are living unhoused and in crisis.

Annual donor steps up

On Monday June 23, 2025 I was invited to attend the Middlesex County Deputy Sheriffs Association's annual golf tournament at the Four Oaks Country Club in Dracut, MA.

While attending the event, I was presented with a generous donation from Tony Iovanna and Richie Redican. Tony, Richie, Paul and their entire staff have been there for us in the past and have continued to support our cause.

This donation comes at a great time because we were just notified that the federal and state government cuts impacted Ricky, Inc causing us to lose our funding.

"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts go out to the Middlesex County Deputy Sheriffs Association for their outstanding dedication and support".

The backpacks contained hygiene products and summer products for the elements and many other items. We delivered a carton of tee shirts and underwear, and extra socks.

I was accompanied by my good friend Doug Jasset. He was a great help to me and enjoyed meeting the staff at AHOPE and PAATTHS.

Thank you to the AHOPE and PAATHS teams for working so hard to help those most in need. We have many times explained the good work they do.

updating the reading room

On the afternoon of Monday July 21, 2025, I visited Andrew House Detox Program. We met with the gentlemen and had some meaningful conversations. My good friend Doug Jasset accompanied me too and he to spoke with the men from the heart. Doug has been such a support to me while making these donations to programs with whom we have partnered with since losing our beloved Ricky.

Pictured with me is Doug Jasset and Patty Sylvester. Patty a dedicated lead counselor and is a longtime friend. She worked with my wife as social worker at a crisis team for children and adolescents in another lifetime it seems. Patty is always checking on us particularly my wife, who before losing my son Nicholas accompanied me on all donations and street outreach programs.

As always, we brought art supplies and books for the "Ricky Memorial Reading Room" dedicated by Maritza Castillo, the former director, who knew Ricky very well. Kayla Cardoza a former team member also had a big part in dedicating the reading room in Ricky's memory because of his love of reading and kindness.

We brought backpacks for the men present and some for when new participants come in. We also brought some women backpacks as Andrew House does accept women but in a smaller capacity. We provided tee shirts, underwear and many essential items in the backpacks.

curbside delivery

On Tuesday July 22, 2025 we made our way to ACCESS in Cambridge. Doug Jasset was kind enough to again accompany me for the second day in a row. Out in front of the building on Green Street, just outside of Central Square, we met with who has become a true friend to us, Brian Sink, Director of ACCESS.

We have many times explained in detail what it is ACCESS does. Please visit ACCESS' website or on Facebook. They are not only a harm reduction program but have an impressive health clinic, and outreach team in the community that includes visits to someone that has recently overdosed offering services to them in person.

On Tuesday July 22, 2025, I and my good friend Doug Jasset visited "Youth on Fire" in Harvard Square Cambridge. It is a very special program in which there are not many like it that we know of. They are a safe place for young people many of whom are unhoused.

Milestone Recovery

On Friday July 25, 2025 Rich & Christopher Giacoppo travelled to Portland Maine and made a large donation of filled backpacks and numerous supplies at Milestone Recovery Center and filled the "Nicholas Giacoppo Memorial Bureau" that we donated last year in memory of the great work that Nicholas did for this organization. His brother Christopher is pictured at the far right while presenting the staff with our donation.

Milestone Director Amy Chaney was kind enough to post the following regarding our visit:

Incredible generosity in memory of Nicholas.

The Ricky Foundation @ricky_incorporated delivered a deeply meaningful donation to Milestone Recovery:

45 backpacks filled with harm reduction and essential supplies

430 pairs of socks

134 pairs of underwear

36 white t-shirts

A large assortment of art supplies

Each item will be distributed by our HOME Team and shelter staff to individuals experiencing homelessness in our community. This donation isn’t just practical—it’s personal. It was given in loving memory of Nicholas, whose legacy continues to bring comfort, dignity, and care to those who need it most.

This isn’t the first time The Ricky Foundation has supported Milestone, and we are honored to be part of their mission.

Thank you for choosing to walk alongside us—and for ensuring that Nicholas’s light continues to shine through acts of compassion.

Thank you Ricky Inc.

"Much appreciation and thanks to Amy Chaney"

Delivering the goods

On Friday July 25, 2025 we delivered backpacks and numerous supplies to the Portland Recovery Community Center.

We do this in honor of Nicholas and his strong relationship to Portland. Nicholas brought Ricky Inc. to Portland and did a lot of street outreach giving out backpacks to those living unhoused. He was devoted to the Ricky Inc. mission and also worked with the Milestones Recovery Street outreach team too.

We have the utmost respect for P.R.C.C. and all of the work and programs you offer the community. Nicholas took advantage of some of your programs and participated in your holiday art show.

"Thank you, especially our  good friend Justin Reid, Director of the PRCC, for all of your support and kindness".

new charitable registration plate

We are proud to display this new charitable registration plate on our Ricky, Inc. van supporting Overdose Awareness. These charitable plates were brainchild of Cheryl Juaire of Team Sharing and took many years to make it come to fruition.

In 2015, Cheryl founded Team Sharing – MA, a support group within her own state where parents meet and support one another and has since started chapters in 25 other states that do the same, including the national chapter TEAM SHARING.   https://teamsharinginc.org/

The Overdose Awareness plate features an image of a purple ribbon with angel
wings and a halo and the words “Overdose Awareness”. Proceeds from this plate go to TEAM SHARING Inc., which provides support and friendship to grieving families while working to raise awareness of Substance Use Disorder and its impact on our communities.

behavioral health network for women

On Monday August 18, 2025 I visited BHN (Behavioral Health Network, Inc.) Family Center and met with Ilene Carrera, Assistant Program Director, Hyde Park, and her staff. Currently there are six mothers and eight children. They are able to accept up to 12 mothers. My wife purchased tote bags filling them with what typically goes in a backpack. She got the age of each child and purchased an educational toy for each child. We have been visiting BHN for at least five years now. They have moved from their Dorchester location and are now in Hyde Park. I didn't meet with the families due to HIPPA. In the future with more time before visiting we will most likely get to visit with them. We would like to thank Illene for all her help in coordinating this visit with my wife, Bernadette.

We also donated 75 pairs of children's socks. BHN Dorchester Family Center is a residential substance use treatment program for pregnant and parenting women with children in their care up to age 18. The program provides women-centered, trauma-informed care and evidence-based substance use treatment services, with the goal of successful family reunification and long-term family stabilization. Cousins Teri Stirk and Sharon Proia made the journey from Massachusetts on this day and brought longtime friend Betty-Lou.

All three women sacrificed their Saturday and committed to being there for Nick and their cousin Bernadette.

Also in attendance was Michael Fitzgibbon who still made the trip even though he was experiencing some family medical situations. He thought enough of Nick and us to travel by himself to be there for us. Thank you!

They all have been generous donors to Ricky, Inc. and are always there when Bernadette or I need them.

loving reflection

family is everything

Christopher sits in silence as he remembers his brothers and reflects on their lives together.

Everyone's heart has been broken beyond repair and Christopher's love for Ricky and Nicholas will always be with him.

We pray that his 7-week old daughter Ruby will help to mend his badly broken heart.

Charitable hockey game becomes a huge success

On the ice at the DCU Center in Worcester, Christopher Giacoppo's son Charlie was chosen to perform the ceremonial puck drop prior to the start of the game.

Charlie does a great job on the face-off between Chris Curran of the White team and a center from the Purple team. Both teams were wearing Ricky, Inc. hockey jerseys and we are thankful to all of the men who participated in this event.

This charitable hockey game was made possible through the kindness and thoughtfulness of Chris Curran, formerly of Norwood.

Chris plays in the Power Play Hockey League for the South Shore Draft League team and was instrumental in getting Ricky, Inc. chosen as the events benefactor.

The goalie made a fantastic save to rob the shooter from scoring another goal.

With less than 3-minutes left in the game, the score was tied 5-5, until the White team score a late goal, forcing the Purple team to pull its goalie and leave its net open for a very late game open net goal.

The White team (South Shore) won this game by a score of 7-5.

After showing great sportsmanship and shaking hands, both teams posed for a group team picture.

Drew Micheli made sure that we each received keep-sake hockey pucks memorializing the game.

Charlie got to keep the puck he used for the ceremonial puck drop face-off.

Chris Curran also made sure that we received complimentary hockey game jerseys that not only showed the Ricky, Inc. logo but also the logos of the South Shore and Bridgewater Draft League teams.

goodbye to a valuable program

it is with a heavy heart and much regret

We have come to the difficult conclusion that we are unable to continue funding sober living for those that call us looking for support/help in receiving a scholarship. It is very hard for us to share this decision as the Sponsorship to Recovery program is so close to our hearts. We had just completed our list of "Partner Sober Homes" and were looking forward to being affiliated with these programs for many years, when word came from the State House that our funding was being eliminated.

We have been fortunate enough to receive state funding for the last few years. Since the federal funding has been cut, the funds that we received can no longer go to programs such as ours. We are very grateful for the funds we did receive and the people we were able to help with a start and a second chance in a sober home.

We will continue to provide rides to detox programs. The only information we need is your name, the detox name, who you are working with at admissions and give your permission for us to call and confirm you have a bed. When you are ready, we will send an Uber to pick you up and bring you directly to the detox program. Call Rich at 781-727-6628 or 781-343-3149.

All towns and cities in Massachusetts received funds for the Opioid settlement and each city spends these funds in many different ways. We would suggest calling the health department in your hometown and inquire if they would use those funds to start you off in a sober living home. We are not saying this is something we know of but just a suggestion.

We would also recommend if you were looking to continue treatment after detox, work with your counselor early when entering detox to inform them you are interested in entering a CSS program (Clinical Stabilization Services). Most CSS programs accept Mass Health and Medicare. TSS (Transitional Support Services) designed to help those who need services between acute treatment and residential rehabilitation, outpatient or other aftercare is another option in continuing services. While in CSS or TSS program let your counselor know early into your admissions that you are interested in interviewing for a halfway house. A person can apply to half-way houses in Massachusetts that give participants time to gain employment or whatever their situation may be. Most accept Mass Health and Medicare. Participants living in a half-way house receive much more support than a sober living home. These are suggestions as everyone's recovery plan looks different.

We are always available to offer information and phone numbers if any of these options sound like they are of interest to you.

Please know we are very sorry we can no longer offer the sober living scholarship program. Please have hope as there are many options in Massachusetts. Massachusetts Substance Use Helpline call (800-327-5050) is staffed by specialists 24 hours seven days a week and are informed with many questions you may have.

We will continue our backpack program as you can see below, we have visited many different programs and have several more for the summer. We will be visiting the Veterans Administration in Jamaica Plain delivering 65 backpacks for three different SUD programs housed there. We will post our visit next week.

Invaluable volunteers

hygiene kits

Ricky, Inc. would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your dedication and kindness in helping us pack our winter backpacks. Your kindness makes it possible for us to support those living unhoused, some with mental health conditions and the disease of substance use disorder.

On November 25, 2025, our friends and Team Ricky Members Sue Kuphal, Lisa, and Michael Fitzgibbon filled hundreds of hygiene packs for our Winter 2025 Distribution. This makes filling the backpacks so much easier and faster. Filling these hygiene kits is vital to the success of the backpack program due to the necessity of these products.

packing backpacks

On December 13th & 14th we had good friends and Team Ricky Members Bill Beatty and Doug Jasset working hard to fill a couple of hundred backpacks. This is the 2nd time this year that Bill and Doug have worked so very hard building backpacks for our programs.

Preparing for our Winter Distribution our team members filled over 350 backpacks.

new team ricky members

new team ricky members

On December 29thwe had our friends and “new” Team Ricky Members starting from left Eoin O'Corcora, Yassmine Mouard, Chloe O’Corcora and Rich working endlessly filling men’s and women's backpacks to support our Winter 2025 Distribution.

Ricky, Inc. is a small nonprofit that we feel makes a difference to many people facing very difficult times by distributing these winter backpacks filled with winter items to face the winter elements when needed.

Thank you all for your support and loving hearts,

Rich and Bernadette, Ricky Inc.

donating the winter backpacks begins

Andrew House

On Monday December 15th we visited Andrew House Detox Program and Marisol Clinical Stabilization Services (CSS) program for men and women. We provided backpacks, tee shirts, Narcan, and under garments for the men and women in both programs. Sixty-five backpacks were distributed.

We always stop in the Ricky Memorial Reading Room whenever we visit and were pleased to see that the room gets used every day and is appreciated and enjoyed by all of the clients.

the reading room revisited

Pictured is some of the staff of the Detox in the "Ricky Quiet/Reading Room. Andrew House was the first organization we visited when Ricky, Inc. "Respecting Individuals with Care and Kindness You matter" when we were what we call a Grass Roots program.

The reading room named in Ricky's name was done by then Director Maritza Castillo and Kayla. It was beautifully done for the men to go and relax quietly to read or draw. We were so grateful and honored by their kind gesture. Since Maritza moved on after many years at Andrew House the room was flooded, and we replaced all the furniture. A room that is used as much has some expected wear and tear - so we will give it some love to make it more relaxing that is our hope.

special thanks

It means so much to us when someone gifts us with something they had made for us. This drawing was done by a client for Rich while he was visiting Andrew House and represents "Strength & Love".

Thank you, Carlos

We want to thank now director Rebecca Goldman for allowing us to do this. We want to thank all staff in the Detox and CSS for their dedication and allowing our close to seven-year relationship. Once we finish, we will post photos of the "Ricky Reading Room". Ricky would be so appreciative as he was a lifelong reader. He never went for the kindle, he loved the feeling of the book, the written word on the pages and the fact he could then pass the book on to someone that may enjoy it as much as he did.

Again, thank you to Rebecca Goldman and the entire staff at Andrew House for allowing us to talk to the men and women and letting them know that they matter,

behavioral health network

persoanlized baskets for each mother & child

On Monday December 15th we visited the Behavioral Health Network. A program for mothers in recovery that have been reunified with their children. We ask for a list of what the children would like in terms of a toy, books, art supplies.

Thank you again to Ilene Carrera and BHN for letting us visit with the moms and children. We don't take photos of children and mothers to respect their privacy.

Each child received a stuffed animal and a book plus the toy they chose among other things in a toy basket. The mothers receive a typical backpack with a few special gifts for the mothers.

We have been visiting the program for five years now and the staff is a pleasurable, hard-working group committed to their mission.

The above is an individual thank you from a client at Andrew House and kindly recognizes all 3 of our beautiful boys "Chris, Ricky & Nick".

uber rides matter

The above is a note from a gentleman we provided an Uber ride to Detox. We love the thank you notes they mean so much. But it's not what the work is about. Whether or not we are thanked, all of the work matters from all the nonprofits that are doing their part. Ricky Inc.. "Respecting Individuals with Care and Kindness You matter" that is what we stand for. That is what Ricky and Nicholas stood for.

"I want my kindness to be so strong its contagious" by Nicholas. Giacoppo, our precious, loving son. Ricky was one of the most loyal people we have ever known. 💕💔💔

giving tuesday donations

We want to thank all those that answered our call for donations for our winter backpack distribution.

These pictures show most of what we received but there were more hats, gloves, mylar blankets, and regular blankets donated.

Most of the donations had no name inside the box of the donor. We love to send a personal note to all those that donate. We want all those that donated that did not receive a thank you note it is because there was no name in the box. Please know how very grateful we are to you for your generosity and kindness. All of these items are being packed up in backpacks and as we deliver them, we will post the pictures. This is a very difficult time of year for us but your generosity and kindness are truly a testament to the good in the world. We know how Ricky and Nicholas would love the thought of people doing what they can to help us keeping this all going. We will post pictures as the deliveries are made so all can see where your donations are going. Thank you to all of you. If you would like to leave your name or message us, we would love to hear from you...if not, again thank you from all of us at Ricky Inc.

Love,

Rich, Ricky, Christopher, Nicholas and Bernadette Giacoppo

continuous supporter

We want to thank Deborah C. for her very generous donation to Ricky, Inc. Please know this gift will go directly to purchasing the much-needed winter gear for the unhoused and allowing us to continue to provide free rides to Detox Programs for those people looking to start their recovery journey.

Over the weekend we spent three days working with a gentleman in a very, difficult situation helping/supporting him to get into a Detox. As it ended up the Detox he went to provided transportation. But this is an example of the importance of providing rides free to any detox in MA.

That is the part of our program that means the most - being at the other end of the phone being present, kind, and supportive.

"Thank you, Deb, for your kindness and continued generosity".

opioid funding supplies

opioid funding supplies

The State of Massachusetts Opioid Settlement - each town and City receives funds from the Opioid settlement to be used in the fight against the opioid crisis and those affected by it. The town of Norwood has been generous with Ricky, Inc. with using some of the funds they received from the Opioid settlement. Norwood Health Department asked for a list of items we needed. Thank you to Stacey Lane and Jennifer Bartucca from Norwood Health Department for organizing this and placing the orders for us to then pick up. We are so very grateful to the town of Norwood. Please know these funds do not take away from other programs in Norwood as they are only to be used for opioid related needs/programs

We as previously said, we have lost our State funding due to Federal cuts funding and are doing everything we can to fulfill the needs of our winter backpack program and our Uber free ride to Detox throughout Massachusetts. We also continue to provide Narcan.

No one at Ricky, Inc. has ever received any monetary compensation and we use our garage to avoid any storage costs so all money can go directly to those that need our support.

Most of you know what we have suffered over the last six years and to be honest it has been a real struggle to keep going. Particularly for me my husband Rich works so hard. There are days I can't function due to the trauma we have experienced but we know Ricky would be so proud of us helping those in need and Nicholas and his brother Christopher were so very proud starting their own program in Portland, Maine serving the unhoused, those in active addiction, those in recovery, and those facing mental health issues.

Below is the first pick up and there was a second pick up from what we received from Norwood's Opioid settlement funds. Our number of those in need has doubled and we could do so much more. But the expense is exuberant.

As our Nicholas would say... "one person at a time...I helped that one"

Thank you again to Stacey and Jennifer for all you did for Ricky Inc.

Love,

Rich and Bernadette Giacoppo of Ricky Inc.
